The Sharks padded the lead on another Hertl empty net goal, his second of the game and seventh of the year, passed from Labanc and Timo Meier. Carolina tied it in the second period with a Martin Necas goal, his eleventh of the year, assisted by Brett Pesce and Sebastian Aho. The Hurricanes took the lead with an Andrei Svechnikov goal, his fourteenth of the season, via Aho and Stefan Noesen. The Penguins tied it on a Guentzel goal, his eleventh of the year, coming off of Jeff Petry and Crosby. Carolina won 3-2 in overtime with a Pesce goal, his second of the campaign, helped along by Svechnikov and Seth Jarvis.
