National League Championship Series: St. Louis Cardinals VS. San Francisco Giants

Welcome to the post for the NLCS between the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals. Please use this post as a reference for the entire series.

Game 1: AT&T Park, San Francisco, California. On the mound: Lance Lynn for St. Louis and Madison Bumgartner for San Francisco. St. Louis began in the second inning as David Freese hit a two-run home run, also scoring Yadier Molina. The Cardinals added on in the fourth inning with Pete Kozma doubling in Daniel Descalso before scoring on a Jon Jay single, and then Carlos Beltran hit a two-run home run, sweeping in Jay. San Francisco got on the board in their half of the inning as Brandon Belt singled home Marco Scutaro, followed by Gregor Blanco tripling to force in both Hunter Pence and Belt, and then he scored on a double by Brandon Crawford. They got no closer, losing 6-4, with Edward Mujica picking up the win, Jason Motte closing for the save, and Bumgarner was dealt the loss. The Cardinals lead 1-0 in the series.

Game 2: AT&T Park, San Francisco, California. On the mound: Chris Carpenter for St. Louis and Ryan Vogelsong for San Francisco. San Francisco led off in the first inning on an Angel Pagan solo home run. St. Louis tied it in the second inning with Carpenter doubling Pete Kozma around. The Giants rallied ahead in the fourth inning as Brandon Crawford reached on an error to allow Brandon Belt to dash home, followed by Marco Scutaro singling to plate Gregor Blanco and Crawford, and also Pagan after an error. San Francisco extended the lead in the eighth inning as Ryan Theriot singled both Blanco and Aubrey Huff across the dish. This made it 7-1, a final, with the win belonging to a strong Vogelsong, while the loss was handed to Carpenter. The series heads east tied at 1.

Game 3: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri. On the mound: Matt Cain for San Francisco and Kyle Lohse for St. Louis. San Francisco started in the third inning as Pablo Sandoval grounded out to bring in Angel Pagan. St. Louis took the lead as Matt Carpenter hit a two-run home run, also scoring Jon Jay. The Cardinals extended the lead in the seventh inning on a Shane Robinson groundout that got David Freese home before the skies opened and the game fell into a long rain delay. This proved to be the end of the scoring, with the final being 3-1. Lohse notched the win, Jason Motte turned the save, and Cain was dinged for the loss. The Cardinals own a 2-1 series lead.

Game 4: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri. On the mound: Tim Lincecum for San Francisco and Adam Wainwright for St. Louis. St. Louis got going in the first inning when Matt Holliday singled in Jon Jay, followed by Allen Craig hitting a sacrifice fly to bring in Matt Carpenter. San Francisco got one back in the second inning on a Hunter Pence solo home run. The Cardinals padded the lead in the fifth inning with Holliday singling to score Carpenter before Yadier Molina did the same to finish Holliday's trip around. St. Louis struck again in the sixth inning as Jay hit a 2-RBI double to drive in both Daniel Descalso and Pete Kozma. The Cardinals kept going in the seventh inning on a Yadier Molina double to get Craig across the dish, before scoring on a Kozma single. The Giants pulled closer in the ninth inning on a two-run home run by Pablo Sandoval, also scoring Marco Scutaro, but they still lost 8-3. Wainwright earned the win and Lincecum suffered the loss. St. Louis has San Francisco on the verge, holding a 3-1 series lead.

Game 5: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri. On the mound: Barry Zito for San Francisco and Lance Lynn for St. Louis. San Francisco opened in the fourth inning as Hunter Pence reached on an error to bring in Marco Scutaro, followed by a 2-RBI Brandon Crawford single to score both Pablo Sandoval and Pence, and Zito laying down a bunt single that knocked in Gregor Blanco. The Giants added on in the eighth inning as Sandoval hit a solo home run. This was all for the scoring, leaving the final at 5-0, with Zito earning the win and Lynn was dealt the loss. The series shifts west again with St. Louis holding a 3-2 series lead.

Game 6: AT&T Park, San Francisco, California. On the mound: Chris Carpenter for St. Louis and Ryan Vogelsong for San Francisco. San Francisco led off in the first inning as Buster Posey grounded out to get Marco Scutaro home. The Giants padded the lead in the second inning with Vogelsong reaching on an error that allowed Brandon Belt to dash home, followed by Scutaro doubling both Brandon Crawford and Vogelsong across the dish, and then he scored on a Pablo Sandoval single. St. Louis got on the board in the sixth inning as Allen Craig singled to knock in Carlos Beltran. San Francisco shot back in the eighth inning as Ryan Theriot singled to drive in Belt. This produced the 6-1 final, with Vogelsong getting the win and Carpenter was dealt the loss. The series goes to the decisive game 7 tomorrow, tied at 3 currently.

Game 7: AT&T Park, San Francisco, California. On the mound: Kyle Lohse for St. Louis and Matt Cain for San Francisco. San Francisco struck first in the first inning as Pablo Sandoval grounded out to bring in Angel Pagan. The Giants added on in the second inning as Cain singled to drive in Gregor Blanco. San Francisco extended the lead in the third inning with Hunter Pence doubling both Marco Scutaro and Sandoval in, and also Buster Posey after an error, before scoring as Brandon Crawford reached on a fielder's choice, followed by Pagan grounding into a fielder's choice that allowed Brandon Belt to cross the dish. The Giants padded the lead in the seventh inning when Aubrey Huff grounded into a double play to give Blanco time to dart home. San Francisco got another in the eighth inning on a Belt solo home run. This was it for the scoring, with the final being 9-0. Cain notched the win and Lohse was pinned with the loss. San Francisco moves on to play the Detroit Tigers in the World Series, starting on Wednesday.
