2015/16 KHL Season - Day 63

Seven games to complete the ninth full week of games. We begin with...

Metallurg Novokuznetsk hosting Sibir Novosibirsk. Alexander Salak and Vladislav Podyapolsky are in goal. Novokuznetsk got going in the second period on a Maxim Kazakov goal, passed from Kirill Kaprizov and Ryan Stoa. Novosibirsk tied it on an unassisted power play goal by Artyom Voroshilo in the third period. Sibir took the lead as Viktor Bobrov scored, thanks to Sergei Shumakov and Georgy Misharin. The final stood at 2-1, with the three stars going to Bobrov, Salak (24 for 25 in saves), and Voroshilo.

Along to Omsk, where Avangard welcomes SKA St. Petersburg. Ilya Ezhov and Dominik Furch protect the nets. St. Petersburg was first to score in the first period on a Jarno Koskiranta goal, fueled by Dinar Khafizullin. Omsk tied it on a Vladimir Sobotka goal, via Martin Erat and Michal Kempny in the third period. SKA took the lead back on an Evgeny Dadonov goal, made possible by Vadim Shipachyov and Yegor Yakovlev. St. Petersburg added on with an Andrei Kuteikin power play goal, powered by Dadonov and Shipachyov. SKA extended the lead on a Joakim Lindstrom goal, with a lone assist by Ilya Kovalchuk. The final held at 4-1, with the three stars going to Dadonov, Ezhov (22 for 23 in saves), and Shipachyov.

Down in Kazakhstan, Barys Astana brings in Spartak Moscow. Evgeny Ivannikov and Jan Laco draw the starts in goal. Astana struck first in the first period on a Konstantin Pushkaryov goal, guided in by Maxim Khudyakov and Vadim Krasnoslobodtsev. Moscow tied it on a Konstantin Glazachev goal, via Alexander Mereskin and Lukas Radil in the second period. Spartak took the lead on a power play goal by Gleb Klimenko, powered by Charles Genoway and Radil. Moscow added on with a Casey Wellman goal, made possible by Evgeny Bodrov. Barys answered with a Mike Lundin power play goal, with assists provided by Brandon Bochenski and Dustin Boyd. Astana tied it on a Kevin Dallman goal in the third period, with a lone helper by Boyd. Barys won 4-3 in overtime with a Vyacheslav Tryasunov goal, assisted by Pushkaryov and Martin St. Pierre. The three stars went to Pushkaryov, Boyd, and Radil.

Back in Russia, Salavat Yulaev Ufa hosts Admiral Vladivostok. Ivan Nalimov and Vladimir Sokhatsky are in the blue paint. Vladivostok opened with a first period power play goal by Dmitry Sayustov, powered by Artyom Zemchyonok and Viktor Alexandrov. Ufa tied it with a Dmitry Makarov goal, fueled by Teemu Hartikainen and Dmitry Vishnevsky. Admiral retook the lead on a Jonathon Blum goal, coming off of Sayustov and Niclas Bergfors. Vladivostok added on with a Konstantin Makarov goal, passed from Alexander Kuznetsov. Salavat Yulaev chipped back with an Alexander Nesterov goal, courtesy of Anton Lazarev and Nikolai Prokhorkin. Ufa tied it in the second period on a Hartikainen goal, with a lone assist by Dmitry Makarov. Admiral regained the lead on a Blum goal, his second of the game, via Artyom Podshendyalov. Vladivostok extended the lead as Oskars Bartulis scored a power play goal, with the help of Blum and Konstantin Makarov. Salavat Yulaev pulled back on an Alexander Loginov power play goal, helped along by Igor Grigorenko and Linus Omark. Ufa tied it with an Omark power play goal in the third period, with helpers from Loginov and Grigorenko. Admiral regained the lead on an Alexander Gorshkov goal, driven in by Zemchyonok. The final stood at 6-5, with the three stars going to Blum, Sayustov, and Zemchyonok, while Hartikainen, Dmitry Makarov, Konstantin Makarov, Loginov, Omark, and Grigorenko all get honorable mentions.

Nearby, Metallurg Magnitogorsk brings in Amur Khabarovsk. Juha Metsola and Ilya Samsonov are between the pipes. Magnitogorsk started with a first period goal by Sergei Mozyakin, assisted by Danis Zaripov and Jan Kovar on the power play. Metallurg added on with a power play goal by Oskar Osala, powered by Tomas Filippi and Sergei Tereshchenko. Magnitogorsk extended the lead in the third period on a Yaroslav Kosov goal, coming off of Bogdan Potekhin. The final was 3-0, with the three stars handed to Samsonov (30 save shutout), Mozyakin, and Osala.

Westward to Moscow, with CSKA welcoming Severstal Cherepovets. Sergei Magarilov and Stanislav Galimov guard the cages. Moscow led off in the first period with a Roman Lyubimov goal, courtesy of Nikita Zaitsev. CSKA added on with an Alexander Radulov power play goal, powered by Geoff Platt. Cherepovets got on the board with a power play goal in the second period from Ilya Khokhlov, via Dmitry Kagarlitsky and Maxim Trunyov. Moscow replied on a Platt goal, assisted by Radulov and Igor Ozhiganov on the power play. CSKA extended the lead as Maxim Mamin scored an unassisted goal, which was actually an own goal by Vadim Kudako. Moscow padded the lead in the third period with a Nikita Kvartalnov goal, fueled by Lyubimov. CSKA continued on a Platt goal, passed from Dmitry Kugryshev and Gennady Stolyarov. Moscow finished it at 7-1 with a Radulov power play goal, with assists provided by Denis Denisov and Zaitsev. The three stars were Platt, Radulov, and Lyubimov, while Zaitsev gets an honorable mention.

Finally, Dinamo Minsk hosts Slovan Bratislava. Barry Brust and Kevin Lalande are the North American goalies. Minsk began in the first period on a Nick Bailen goal, fueled by Paul Szczechura and Alexander Materukhin. Bratislava tied it on a Michal Sersen goal, going in unassisted. Dinamo retook the lead on a Ryan Vesce goal in the second period, coming off of Matt Ellison and Bailen. Slovan tied it again on a Cam Barker power play goal, powered by Lukas Kaspar and Sersen. Bratislava took the lead on a Rok Ticar goal, assisted by Andrej Stastny and Ziga Jeglic. Minsk tied it in the third period on a Dmitry Meleshko goal, guided in by Konstantin Koltsov and Sergei Drozd. The shootout was sloppy for the goalies, with Jeglic's two goals along with Kaspar topping Vesce and Meleshko for a 4-3 Slovan win. The three stars went to Jeglic, Sersen, and Bailen, while Kaspar, Vesce, and Meleshko get the honorable mentions.
