Calgary, as the Flames host the Arizona Coyotes. Calvin Pickard and Mike Smith draw the starts in goal. Calgary opened in the first period with a Derek Ryan goal, his sixth of the season, passed from Mark Giordano and Garnet Hathaway. Arizona tied it on a Conor Garland goal in the second period, his twelfth of the year, via Nick Cousins. The Flames took the lead back with a Giordano goal, his thirteenth of the season, assisted by Matthew Tkachuk and Rasmus Andersson. The Coyotes tied it on a Jordan Weal power play goal, his fourth of the year, powered by Alex Galchenyuk and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Calgary regained the lead with an Austin Czarnik goal, his fourth of the season, with helpers from Sam Bennett and Andersson. The Flames added on in the third period with a Michael Frolik goal, his thirteenth of the year, fueled by Elias Lindholm and Mikael Backlund. Calgary iced it at 5-2 with a Backlund empty net goal, his fourteenth of the campaign, set up by Frolik and Lindholm. The three stars were Giordano, Frolik, and Backlund, while Andersson and Lindholm get the honorable mentions.
Back east, the Columbus Blue Jackets welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy faces a lesser foe in Joonas Korpisalo in goal. Tampa Bay started in the first period with a Nikita Kucherov goal, his twenty-eighth of the season, made possible by Yanni Gourde and Mikhail Sergachev. The Lightning added on with an unassisted Kucherov goal, his second of the game and twenty-ninth of the year. Tampa Bay extended the lead in the second period as Steven Stamkos scored his thirty-third of the season on the power play, thanks to Kucherov and Brayden Point. The Lightning padded the lead in the third period on a Point power play goal, his thirty-fourth of the year, powered by Kucherov and Sergachev. Tampa Bay struck again with another Point goal, his second of the game and thirty-fifth of the season, with a lone assist by Kucherov, who got a sock trick. Columbus got on the board with a Lukas Sedlak goal, his fourth of the year, coming off of Riley Nash and Scott Harrington. This only made it 5-1, the final, with the three stars awarded to Kucherov, Point, and Vasilevskiy (39 for 40 in saves), while Sergachev gets an honorable mention.
In Chicago, the Blackhawks bring in the Ottawa Senators. Anders Nilsson and Collin Delia are the goalies. Ottawa led off in the first period with a Bobby Ryan power play goal, his thirteenth of the season, powered by Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel. The Senators added on with a Rudolfs Balcers goal, his third of the year, courtesy of Chris Tierney and Mikkel Boedker. Chicago got on the board with an Alex DeBrincat power play goal, his thirtieth of the season, with assists provided by Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. The Blackhawks tied it on another DeBrincat goal, his second of the game and thirty-first of the year, guided in by Dominik Kahun and Dylan Strome. Ottawa chased Delia with a Colin White goal, his twelfth of the season, going in unassisted. Cam Ward relieved Delia. Chicago retied it with Kane's thirty-sixth goal of the year, via Duncan Keith. The Blackhawks extended the lead as Strome scored his fifteenth of the season, thanks to Keith. Nilsson was replaced by Craig Anderson. Chicago padded the lead on a Brandon Saad goal, his twentieth of the year, made possible by Dylan Sikura and Artem Anisimov. The Senators pulled back with a Mark Stone goal, his twenty-eighth of the season, helped along by Brady Tkachuk and White. Ottawa tied it in the second period on White's second of the game and thirteenth of the year, fueled by Tkachuk and Stone. The Blackhawks regained the lead with a DeBrincat goal, completing his hat trick on his thirty-second of the season, assisted by Strome. Chicago kept going with a Gustav Forsling goal, his third of the year, with helpers from Saad and DeBrincat. The Blackhawks struck again in the third period with a Toews power play goal, his twenty-eighth of the season, dished from DeBrincat and Kane. The Senators pulled back on a Thomas Chabot goal, his twelfth of the year, coming off of Cody Ceci and Duchene. Ottawa got within one on another Chabot goal, his second of the game and thirteenth of the campaign, from Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Magnus Paajarvi. This made it an 8-7 game, the final, with the three stars given to DeBrincat, Kane, and Strome, while White, Chabot, Stone, Toews, Saad, Keith, Duchene, and Tkachuk all get honorable mentions.
Further west, the Colorado Avalanche host the Vegas Golden Knights. Malcolm Subban and Semyon Varlamov draw the starts in goal. Colorado began in the first period with a Tyson Jost goal, his seventh of the season, going in unassisted. The Avalanche added on with an Andrew Agozzino goal in the second period, made possible by Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon. Colorado extended the lead in the third period as Matt Calvert scored his ninth of the year, thanks to Matt Nieto and Agozzino. The final held from here at 3-0, with the three stars going to Varlamov (40 save shutout), Agozzino, and Jost.
In California, the San Jose Sharks welcome the Boston Bruins. Tuukka Rask and Martin Jones protect the nets. Boston kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Torey Krug power play goal, his sixth of the season, powered by David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron. The Bruins added on with a Zdeno Chara goal, his fourth of the year, coming off of Sean Kuraly. Boston extended the lead as Karson Kuhlman scored, thanks to Jake DeBrusk and Krejci. San Jose got on the board with a Joe Thornton goal, his eleventh of the season, assisted by Joe Pavelski. The Sharks got closer in the second period with a Pavelski power play goal, his thirty-second of the year, with assists from Brent Burns and Logan Couture. The Bruins replied with a Debrusk power play goal, his eighteenth of the season, made possible by Danton Heinen and David Backes. San Jose got closer with another Thornton goal, his second of the game and twelfth of the year, passed from Marcus Sorensen and Radim Simek. The Sharks tied it with a Couture shorthanded penalty shot goal, his twenty-second of the season, coming after a hook from Brad Marchand. San Jose gained the lead on a Thornton goal to complete his hat trick with his thirteenth of the year, with helpers from Pavelski and Justin Braun. Boston tied it again with a Chris Wagner goal, his eighth of the season, helped along by Brandon Carlo and Noel Acciari. The Bruins won 6-5 in overtime with a Charlie McAvoy goal, his fourth of the year, guided in by Krejci, who got a sock trick, and DeBrusk. The three stars were DeBrusk, Krejci, and Thornton, while Pavelski and Couture get the honorable mentions.
Finally, the Los Angeles Kings bring in the Washington Capitals. Pheonix Copley and Jack Campbell are the backups in goal. Washington drew first blood in the first period with an Alex Ovechkin power play goal, his forty-first of the season, powered by John Carlson and Jakub Vrana. The Capitals added on with a Brett Connolly goal, his fourteenth of the year, via Andre Burakovsky and Dmitry Orlov. Washington extended the lead as Ovechkin scored another power play goal in the second period, his second of the game and forty-second of the season, with the help of Carlson and Nicklas Backstrom. Los Angeles got on the board in the third period with an Alex Iafallo goal, his thirteenth of the year, coming off of Dustin Brown and Paul LaDue. The Kings got closer with an Ilya Kovalchuk goal, his thirteenth of the campaign, courtesy of Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty. This only made it 3-2, the final, with the three stars given to Ovechkin, Carlson, and Connolly.
