The last day with a pair of games on sees...
The Columbus Blue Jackets welcoming the Boston Bruins. Tuukka Rask and Sergei Bobrovsky tend the twines. Boston got going in the second period with a David Krejci goal, his fourth of the postseason, coming off of Jake DeBrusk and Connor Clifton. The Bruins added on with a Marcus Johansson goal, his second of the playoffs, via Charlie Coyle and Danton Heinen in the third period. Boston extended the lead as David Backes scored, thanks to Torey Krug and Krejci. This made it 3-0, the final, with the three stars going to Rask (39 save shutout), Krejci, and Johansson. The Bruins won the series 4-2 and will meet the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference finals.
Out west, the Colorado Avalanche bring in the San Jose Sharks. Martin Jones and Philipp Grubauer are in the creases. Colorado dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Tyson Jost goal, his second of the postseason, courtesy of J.T. Compher. San Jose tied it on a Marc-Edouard Vlasic goal, his second of the playoffs, guided in by Timo Meier and Gustav Nyquist. The Avalanche retook the lead with a Compher goal, his third of the postseason, assisted by Carl Soderberg and Alexander Kerfoot. The Sharks tied it again on a Brent Burns goal, his fifth of the playoffs, with a lone helper by Erik Karlsson. Colorado regained the lead on a Compher goal in the third period, his second of the game and fourth of the postseason, helped along by Derick Brassard and Colin Wilson. San Jose retied it with a Vlasic goal, his second of the game and third of the playoffs, fueled by Logan Couture and Nyquist. The Avalanche won 4-3 in overtime with a Gabriel Landeskog goal, his third of the postseason, made possible by Cale Makar. The three stars went to Compher, Landeskog, and Vlasic, while Nyquist gets an honorable mention. The series heads back to San Jose one more time, tied at 3 games apiece.
