NWSL 2019 - Week 4

Some players have left for World Cup prep, so rosters are a bit different. We begin on Friday with...

The Utah Royals FC hosting the Chicago Red Stars. Emily Boyd and Nicole Barnhart are the keepers. Chicago went down to ten women in the 42nd minute as Katie Johnson took a straight red card for a foul on Vero Boquete. The Red Stars' Nikki Stanton received a yellow card for a foul in the 66th minute. Utah saw a yellow card for Michelle Maemone's foul in the 78th minute. Chicago's Sam Kerr picked up a yellow card in the 80th minute for a foul. The Royals got going in the 84th minute with an Amy Rodriguez goal, assisted by Katie Bowen and Erika Tymrak. The final held at 1-0, with the woman of the match being Rodriguez.

On Saturday, the Washington Spirit welcome Reign FC. Michelle Betos and Aubrey Bledsoe tend the nets. Washington's Cheyna Matthews received a yellow card for a handball in the 86th minute. Reign's Lauren Barnes took a yellow card for an 88th minute foul. The game ended in a 0-0 draw, with Bledsoe earning woman of the match honors for her nine-save clean sheet.

Down in North Carolina, the Courage bring in Sky Blue FC. Kailen Sheridan and Stephanie Labbe are the Canadian keepers. Paige Monaghan of Sky Blue took a yellow card for a 34th minute foul. McCall Zerboni of North Carolina picked up a yellow card for a foul in the 87th minute. The game ended in a 0-0 draw, with Sheridan being the woman of the match for a three-save clean sheet.

Finally, the Houston Dash host the Orlando Pride on Sunday. Haley Kopmeyer and Jane Campbell are in the six-yard boxes. Houston began in the 7th minute with a Kealia Ohai goal, set up by Sofia Huerta. In stoppage time, Orlando's Marta took a yellow card for a foul. The final was 1-0, with Ohai earning woman of the match honors.
