NWSL 2019 - Week 22

All four games this weekend are on Saturday, beginning with...

The Chicago Red Stars hosting the Washington Spirit. Aubrey Bledsoe and Alyssa Naeher protect the nets. Chicago opened in the 9th minute with a Sam Kerr goal, via Katie Johnson. The Red Stars added on in the 23rd minute with a Yuki Nagasato goal, passed from Kerr and Johnson. Chicago extended the lead as Kerr scored again in the 49th minute, thanks to Nagasato. In the 53rd minute, Washington's Paige Nielsen had a yellow card for a foul, as did teammates Sam Staab in the 62nd minute and Meggie Dougherty Howard in the 65th minute. The Spirit got on the board with a Mallory Pugh goal in the 80th minute, coming off of Staab and Nielsen. The final was 3-1, with the woman of the match being Kerr.

Out west, the Utah Royals FC welcome the North Carolina Courage. Stephanie Labbe and Nicole Barnhart guard the woodwork. North Carolina started in the 30th minute with a Samantha Mewis penalty kick goal. In the 35th minute, Denise O'Sullivan received a yellow card for her foul for the Courage. North Carolina added on in the 65th minute with a Jaelene Hinkle goal. The Courage extended the lead in the 70th minute as Debinha scored, thanks to Crystal Dunn. This made it 3-0, the final, with the woman of the match being Hinkle.

Northwest to Tacoma, as Reign FC brings in Sky Blue FC. Kailen Sheridan and Casey Murphy are the young keepers. Sky Blue's Imani Dorsey took a yellow card for a handball in the 43rd minute. Sky Blue's Carli Lloyd received a yellow card for a 50th minute foul. Sky Blue got going in the 77th minute with a Lloyd goal, set up by Nahomi Kawasumi. This stood for a 1-0 win, with the woman of the match being Lloyd.

Finally, the Portland Thorns FC hosts the Houston Dash. Jane Campbell and Adrianna Franch draw the starts in goal. Portland dented the scoreboard in the 48th minute with a Tobin Heath goal, set up by Lindsey Horan. The final stayed at 1-0, with Heath named woman of the match.
