A single game on the schedule today sees the Pittsburgh Penguins hosting the Ottawa Senators. Marcus Hogberg is mismatched with Tristan Jarry in goal. Pittsburgh struck first in the first period with an Evgeni Malkin goal, his tenth of the season, made possible by Jake Guentzel and Jack Johnson. The Penguins added on with a Dominik Simon goal, his fourth of the year, via Joseph Blandisi and Patric Hornqvist. Ottawa got on the board with a Nick Paul goal, his fifth of the season, assisted by Christian Jaros and Scott Sabourin in the second period. Pittsburgh answered with a Malkin goal, his eleventh of the year and second of the game, coming off of Bryan Rust and Guentzel. The Senators countered on a Paul goal, his second of the game and sixth of the season, guided in by Connor Brown and Thomas Chabot. The Penguins replied with a Hornqvist goal, his seventh of the year, fueled by John Marino and Jared McCann. Pittsburgh extended the lead in the third period as Guentzel scored his twentieth of the campaign, thanks to Malkin and Rust. The final was 5-2, with the three stars being Malkin, Guentzel, and Paul, while Hornqvist and Rust get the honorable mentions.
