To open 2020, the NHL plays just one game, as the Dallas Stars welcome the Nashville Predators to the Cotton Bowl. Pekka Rinne and Ben Bishop tend the twines. Nashville opened in the first period with a Matt Duchene power play goal, his ninth of the season, powered by Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi. The Predators added on with a Dante Fabbro goal, his fourth of the year, via Duchene and Josi on the power play. Dallas got on the board with a Blake Comeau goal, his fifth of the season, coming off of Jason Dickinson and Esa Lindell in the second period. The Stars tied it in the third period with a Mattias Janmark power play goal, his fifth of the year, passed from John Klingberg and Roope Hintz. Dallas took the lead with an Alexander Radulov power play goal, his twelfth of the season, made possible by Klingberg and Jamie Benn. The Stars extended the lead as Andrej Sekera scored, thanks to Radek Faksa and Janmark. The final remained at 4-2, with the three stars given to Klingberg, Duchene, and Josi.
