The Carolina Hurricanes welcoming the Washington Capitals. Ilya Samsonov and Petr Mrazek will play in goal. Washington got going in the second period with a Richard Panik goal, his fifth of the season, helped along by Lars Eller. The Capitals added on with an Evgeny Kuznetsov power play goal, his sixteenth of the year, powered by John Carlson and Nicklas Backstrom. Carolina got on the board in the third period with a Jordan Staal goal, his sixth of the season, assisted by Brett Pesce and Andrei Svechnikov. Washington replied with an Eller power play goal, his ninth of the year, with assists provided by Alex Ovechkin and Dmitry Orlov. The Capitals extended the lead Jakub Vrana scored his sixteenth of the season, thanks to Kuznetsov and T.J. Oshie. The Hurricanes pulled back with a Teuvo Teravainen power play goal, his eighth of the year, made possible by Sebastian Aho and Svechnikov. Carolina got closer with a Ryan Dzingel power play goal, his eighth of the season, courtesy of Martin Necas and Jake Gardiner. This only made it 4-3, the final, with the three stars going to Kuznetsov, Eller, and Svechnikov.
Also, the Dallas Stars bring in the Detroit Red Wings. Jonathan Bernier and Anton Khudobin man the nets. Detroit struck first in the first period with a Dylan Larkin goal, his tenth of the season, passed from Robby Fabbri and Brian Lashoff. Dallas tied it on a Roope Hintz shorthanded goal, his fourteenth of the year, set up by Esa Lindell and Joe Pavelski. The Stars took the lead on a Radek Faksa power play goal, his ninth of the season, powered by Lindell and Hintz. Dallas added on with a Pavelski goal, his eighth of the year, going in unassisted. The Stars extended the lead in the third period as Andrej Sekera scored his second of the season shorthanded into an empty net, set up by Lindell and Blake Comeau. The three stars belonged to Lindell, Pavelski, and Hintz in the 4-1 game.
