Montreal got on the board in the third period with a Johnathan Kovacevic goal, his sixth of the season, passed from Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. The Senators iced it at 4-1 with an empty net goal by Mathieu Joseph, his eighth of the year, going in unassisted. The three stars were Korpisalo (24 for 25 in saves), Sanderson, and Pinto.
Back stateside, the Philadelphia Flyers bring in the Tampa Bay Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy and Samuel Ersson draw the starts in goal. Tampa Bay led off in the first period with a Brayden Point goal, his twenty-second of the season, via Maxwell Crozier. The Lightning added on with a Nikita Kucherov goal, his twenty-ninth of the season, fueled by Darren Raddysh and Brandon Hagel. Tampa Bay extended the lead in the second period with a Kucherov power play goal, his second of the game and thirtieth of the year, powered by Point and Steven Stamkos. Philadelphia got on the board with a Cam Atkinson goal, his thirteenth of the season, made possible by Joel Farabee and Sean Walker. The Flyers pulled closer with a power play goal by Jamie Drysdale, his second of the year, with assists provided by Morgan Frost and Atkinson. The Lightning replied with a Mikey Eyssimont power play goal, his eighth of the year, helped along by Kucherov and Victor Hedman. New York tied it in the second period with a Brock Nelson goal, his twenty-first of the year, passed from Alexander Romanov and Noah Dobson. The Golden Knights retook the lead with a Sheldon Rempal power play goal, powered by Nicolas Roy and Pietrangelo. Vegas added on with a Roy goal, his ninth of the season, assisted by Jonathan Marchessault and Barbashev. The Islanders got one back with a Jean-Gabriel Pageau shorthanded goal, his sixth of the year, set up by Simon Holmstrom and Adam Pelech. This only made it 3-2, the final, with the three stars being Roy, Barbashev, and Pietrangelo.
Out west, the Minnesota Wild welcome the Washington Capitals. Darcy Kuemper and Filip Gustavsson patrol the creases. Minnesota struck first in the first period with a Brock Faber goal, his fourth of the season, assisted by Mats Zuccarello and Marco Rossi. The Wild added on with a Marcus Foligno goal, his eighth of the year, via Matt Boldy and Joel Eriksson Ek. Minnesota extended the lead in the second period as Marcus Johansson scored his seventh of the season, thanks to Zach Bogosian. Washington got on the board with an Anthony Mantha goal, his thirteenth of the year, passed from Evgeny Kuznetsov and Martin Fehervary. The Blues pulled ahead with a Saad goal, his second of the game and thirteenth of the campaign, helped along by Parayko and Leddy. This made it 4-3, the final, with the three stars given to Saad, Leddy, and Sharangovich, while Parayko gets an honorable mention.
Also in Alberta, the Edmonton Oilers host the Columbus Blue Jackets. Elvis Merzlikins and Stuart Skinner are in the blue paint. Edmonton kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Warren Foegele power play goal, his tenth of the season, powered by Evander Kane and Darnell Nurse. Columbus tied it with a Dmitri Voronkov goal, his tenth of the year, via Kent Johnson. The Oilers took the lead in the third period with a Kane goal, his fifteenth of the season, assisted by Foegele and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Edmonton added on with a Connor McDavid goal, his seventeenth of the year, passed from Leon Draisaitl and Cody Ceci. Buffalo got on the board in the third period with a Jordan Greenway power play goal, his fifth of the year, with assists provided by Rasmus Dahlin and Dylan Cozens. The Sabres got closer with a Kyle Okposo goal, his ninth of the season, coming off of Tage Thompson and Greenway. San Jose got on the board with a Nico Sturm goal, his third of the season, going in unassisted. The Sharks tied it on a Ryan Carpenter goal, his third of the year, via Jan Rutta and Filip Zadina. San Jose won 3-2 in overtime with a Tomas Hertl goal, his fifteenth of the campaign, made possible by Rutta and Alexander Barabanov. The three stars were handed to Rutta, Fox, and Hertl.
