NHL 2023-24 - Day 88

It's a three-game Wednesday slate, beginning with...

The Philadelphia Flyers hosting the Montreal Canadiens. Cayden Primeau and Samuel Ersson man the nets. Montreal opened in the first period with a Sean Monahan goal, his eleventh of the season, assisted by Justin Barron and Kaiden Guhle. The Canadiens added on with a David Savard goal, his fourth of the year, passed from Michael Pezzetta and Juraj Slafkovsky. Philadelphia got on the board with an Owen Tippett goal, his fourteenth of the season, via Travis Konecny and Sean Couturier. The Flyers tied it in the second period with a Morgan Frost power play goal, his seventh of the year, powered by Jamie Drysdale and Tyson Foerster. The tie went to a shootout, where Couturier's lone tally lifted the Flyers to a 3-2 win. The three stars were Couturier, Forst, and Tippett.

Down in Dallas, the Stars welcome the Minnesota Wild. Jesper Wallstedt and Scott Wedgewood make the starts in goal. Dallas started in the first period with a Joe Pavelski goal, his sixteenth of the season, going in unassisted. The Stars added on with a Matt Duchene goal, his twelfth of the year, coming off of Ryan Suter and Nils Lundkvist. Dallas extended the lead as Roope Hintz scored his seventeenth of the season, thanks to Mason Marchment and Esa Lindell. Minnesota got on the board with a Matt Boldy goal, his fourteenth of the year, guided in by Brock Faber and Joel Eriksson Ek. The Stars shot back with a Jason Robertson goal, his fifteenth of the season, made possible by Lindell. Dallas padded the lead as Lundkvist scored, with the help of Radek Faksa. The Wild got one back with a Ryan Hartman power play goal, his twelfth of the year, powered by Mats Zuccarello and Boldy. The Stars responded with a Tyler Seguin goal, his sixteenth of the season, courtesy of Marchment. Dallas continued with a Sam Steel goal, his fourth of the year, helped along by Lindell and Craig Smith. This made it 7-2, the final, with the three stars being Lundkvist, Lindell, and Marchment, while Boldy gets an honorable mention.

Finally, the Colorado Avalanche bring in the Vegas Golden Knights. Jiri Patera and Alexandar Georgiev tend the twines. Colorado struck first in the first period with a Valeri Nichushkin power play goal, his twenty-first of the season, powered by Mikko Rantanen and Jonathan Drouin. The Avalanche added on in the second period with a Nichushkin power play goal, his second of the game and twenty-second of the year, with assists provided by Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon. Colorado extended the lead as Logan O'Connor goal, his seventh of the season, via Caleb Jones. The final stood at 3-0, with the three stars going to Georgiev (25 save shutout), Nichushkin, and Rantanen.
