Edmonton extended the lead in the second period as Hall scored his second of the game and eighteenth of the season, thanks to Purcell and Leon Draisaitl. Florida got on the board with a Reilly Smith goal, his thirteenth of the year, going in unassisted. The Panthers pulled back with a Quinton Howden goal, his fourth of the season, made possible by Shawn Thornton and Brian Campbell. The Oilers finished it at 4-2 with a Purcell goal, his tenth of the year, helped along by Hall. The three stars were Hall, Purcell, and Talbot (30 for 32 in saves).
Northwest to St. Louis, where the Blues welcome the Pittsburgh Penguins. Jeff Zatkoff is mismatched with Brian Elliott in goal. St. Louis struck first in the first period on an Alexander Steen goal, his fourteenth of the season, with a lone assist by Paul Stastny. Pittsburgh tied it with a Chris Kunitz goal, his eighth of the year, via Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby. The Penguins took the lead on an Evgeni Malkin goal in the second period, his twentieth of the season, helped along by Carl Hagelin and Letang. The Blues tied it on a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, his twenty-fifth of the year, courtesy of Joel Edmundson and Robby Fabbri. St. Louis took the lead in the third period with a Troy Brouwer goal, his ninth of the season, assisted by Stastny and Colton Parayko. North to Winnipeg, where the Jets host the Colorado Avalanche. Semyon Varlamov and Connor Hellebuyck protect the nets. Colorado got going in the second period on a Carl Soderberg goal, his ninth of the season, made possible by Nick Holden and Blake Comeau. The Avalanche added on with a Jarome Iginla power play goal, his thirteenth of the year, powered by Soderberg and Alex Tanguay. Winnipeg got on the board with a Joel Armia goal, his second of the campaign, coming off of Mathieu Perreault and Nikolaj Ehlers. This only made it a 2-1 loss for them, with the three stars going to Soderberg, Varlamov (36 for 37 in saves), and Iginla.
Down in Arizona, the Coyotes bring in the Buffalo Sabres. Chad Johnson and Louis Domingue are the surprisingly solid goalies. Buffalo drew first blood in the second period with a Jack Eichel power play goal, his fourteenth of the season, powered by Rasmus Ristolainen and Ryan O'Reilly. The Sabres added on with a Jamie McGinn goal, his tenth of the year, set up by Eichel and Ristolainen on the power play. Arizona got on the board with an Antoine Vermette goal in the third period, his seventh of the campaign, with assists provided by Shane Doan and Tobias Rieder. This only made it 2-1, the final, with the three stars being Eichel, Ristolainen, and Johnson (26 for 27 in saves).
Finally, the San Jose Sharks host the Ottawa Senators. Craig Anderson faces a lesser foe in Alex Stalock in goal. Ottawa started in the first period with a Max McCormick goal, his second of the season, courtesy of Cody Ceci and Chris Neil. The Senators added on with a second period Bobby Ryan power play goal, his fifteenth of the year, powered by Mika Zibanejad and Erik Karlsson. San Jose got on the board with a Tomas Hertl goal, his eighth of the campaign, coming off of Joe Thornton and Brent Burns. The Sharks tied it on a third period Logan Couture goal, his second of the season, made possible by Joel Ward and Marc-Edouard Vlasic. San Jose took the lead in the third period with a Matt Nieto goal, his sixth of the year, passed from Joonas Donskoi and Chris Tierney. Ottawa retied it on a shorthanded penalty shot goal by Zack Smith, his ninth of the campaign, a shot he received after Burns hooked him. The tie went to a shootout, where Zibanejad gave the Senators a 4-3 win with his lone tally. The three stars went to Zibanejad, Smith, and McCormick.

There's a full slate of games in league action this weekend. We begin with...

Chelsea tied it with a Fabregas goal in the sixty-sixth minute, courtesy of Costa. At the exact end of regulation time, Ramiro Funes Mori pulled Everton into the lead with his goal, fueled by Gerard Deulofeu, and he also garnered a yellow card for excessive celebration. Both were in vain, as Terry redeemed himself on a goal eight minutes deep into stoppage time, passed from Oscar to level the score for Chelsea. Terry also had a yellow card for excessive salvage as he salvaged a 3-3 draw.

Southampton extended the lead as Dusan Tadic scored in the seventy-second minute, thanks to Steven Davis. This made it 3-0, the final, favoring Southampton.
Rounding out the Saturday seven, Aston Villa hosts Leicester City. Kasper Schmeichel and Mark Bunn are the gloved men. In the fourteenth minute, Aston Villa keeper Bunn took a yellow card for a foul.
