NHL 2023-24 - Day 139

There's nine games on this Tuesday. First up...

The New Jersey Devils host the Florida Panthers. Anthony Stolarz and Akira Schmid are the backups in goal. Florida opened in the first period with a Nick Cousins goal, his fourth of the season, guided in by Matthew Tkachuk. The Panthers added on with an Evan Rodrigues power play goal, his tenth of the year, powered by Tkachuk and Sam Bennett. New Jersey got on the board with a Jack Hughes power play goal, his twenty-first of the season, with assists provided by Jesper Bratt and Luke Hughes. The Devils tied it in the second period with a Timo Meier goal, his fourteenth of the year, going in unassisted. Florida retook the lead with an Eetu Luostarinen goal, his eleventh of the season, made possible by Dmitry Kulikov and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The Penguins added on with an Evgeni Malkin goal, his eighteenth of the season, assisted by Reilly Smith and Graves. Columbus got on the board in the second period with a Johnny Gaudreau goal, his tenth of the year, fueled by Jack Roslovic and Zach Werenski. The Blue Jackets tied it on an Andrew Peeke goal, made possible by Jake Bean and Alexandre Texier. Pittsburgh pulled ahead with a Rickard Rakell goal, his ninth of the season, going in unassisted. Columbus tied it in the third period with a Roslovic shorthanded goal, his fifth of the year, set up by Peeke. The Penguins retook the lead with a Jeff Carter power play goal, his eighth of the season, powered by Emil Bemstrom and Smith. Pittsburgh extended the lead as Smith scored his eleventh of the year, thanks to Malkin. Over in Boston, the Bruins bring in the Edmonton Oilers. Stuart Skinner and Linus Ullmark protect the nets. Edmonton tied it on a Leon Draisaitl goal, his thirty-first of the year, passed from Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard. The Oilers won 2-1 in overtime with a Draisaitl goal, his second of the game and thirty-second of the campaign, assisted by McDavid and Bouchard. To New York, as the Islanders host the St. Louis Blues. Joel Hofer and Ilya Sorokin are scheduled to start in goal. St. Louis got going in the second period with an Alexey Toropchenko goal, his eleventh of the season, guided in by Jake Neighbours. The Blues added on with a Jordan Kyrou goal, his twentieth of the year, made possible by Brandon Saad and Marco Scandella. New York got on the board with a Kyle Palmieri goal, his nineteenth of the season, assisted by Adam Pelech and Noah Dobson. The Islanders tied it on a Jean-Gabriel Pageau goal, his eighth of the year, fueled by Palmieri and Sebastian Aho. Vancouver tied it on an Elias Pettersson goal in the second period, his thirtieth of the year, assisted by Nils Hoglander and Quinn Hughes. The Canucks won 2-1 in overtime with a J.T. Miller goal, his thirty-first of the campaign, made possible by Brock Boeser and Hughes. The three stars were Demko (23 for 24 in saves), Hughes, and Miller.

Finally, the San Jose Sharks bring in the Dallas Stars. Jake Oettinger and Kaapo Kahkonen patrol the creases. Dallas pulled closer on a Johnston goal, his second of the game and twenty-first of the season, courtesy of Stankoven and Benn. The Stars tied it as Johnston completed his hat trick on his twenty-second of the year, with the help of Heiskanen and Benn. Dallas won 7-6 in overtime with a Roope Hintz goal, his twenty-fifth of the campaign, with helpers from Stankoven and Heiskanen. NHL 2023-24 - Day 138

There's six games this Monday, beginning with...

The New York Rangers hosting the Florida Panthers. Sergei Bobrovsky and Igor Shesterkin tend the twines. New York led off in the first period with a Will Cuylle power play goal, his eleventh of the season, powered by Jacob Trouba and K'Andre Miller. Florida tied it in the second period with a Sam Reinhart power play goal, his forty-third of the year, with assists provided by Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe. The Panthers took the lead with another Reinhart goal, his second of the game and forty-fourth of the season, passed from Barkov and Gustav Forsling. The Rangers retied it on a Chris Kreider power play goal, his thirty-first of the year, helped along by Vincent Trocheck and Artemi Panarin. Florida pulled ahead in the third period with a Ryan Lomberg goal, his fifth of the season, coming off of Forsling. The Panthers iced it at 4-2 with an Anton Lundell empty net goal, his ninth of the year, set up by Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The three stars were Reinhart, Barkov and Forsling.

In Philadelphia, the Flyers welcome the St. Louis Blues. Jordan Binnington and Samuel Ersson are in the creases. The tie lasted to a shootout, where the Blues won 2-1 with goals by Jake Neighbours and Pavel Buchnevich to surge past Morgan Frost and the Flyers. Along to Toronto, as the Maple Leafs bring in the Boston Bruins. Jeremy Swayman and Joseph Woll are the masked men. Boston opened in the first period with a Morgan Geekie goal, his fourteenth of the season, fueled by David Pastrnak and Mason Lohrei. The Bruins added on with a Pavel Zacha power play goal, his thirteenth of the year, powered by Pastrnak and Jake DeBrusk. Boston extended the lead in the second period as DeBrusk scored his fourteenth of the season, thanks to Charlie Coyle and Brad Marchand. Toronto got on the board in the third period with a John Tavares goal, his nineteenth of the year, made possible by Morgan Rielly and Ilya Lyubushkin. The Blue Jackets extended the lead as Nylander scored his second of the game and third of the year in the third period, thanks to Cole Sillinger. Out west, the Colorado Avalanche welcome the Chicago Blackhawks. Petr Mrazek and Justus Annunen are set to start in goal. Colorado struck first in the first period with a Nathan MacKinnon goal, his thirty-eighth of the season, via Devon Toews and Cale Makar. The Avalanche added on with a Jonathan Drouin goal, his eleventh of the year, guided in by Ross Colton and Samuel Girard. Colorado extended the lead in the second period as Makar scored his fourteenth of the season, thanks to MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. The Avalanche padded the lead on a Zach Parise goal, his fourth of the year, helped along by Caleb Jones and MacKinnon. Colorado iced it at 5-0 in the third period with a MacKinnon power play goal, his second of the game and thirty-ninth of the campaign, powered by Drouin and Artturi Lehkonen. The Washington Capitals host the Arizona Coyotes. Karel Vejmelka and Charlie Lindgren are the goalies. Arizona began in the first period with a Logan Cooley goal, his tenth of the season, via Dylan Guenther. The Coyotes added on with a Jason Zucker power play goal in the second period, his ninth of the year, powered by Guenther and Nick Schmaltz. Washington got on the board with a Sonny Milano power play goal, his eighth of the season, coming off of Alex Ovechkin and Rasmus Sandin. Arizona answered on a Michael Kesselring goal, his fifth of the year, passed from Liam O'Brien and Juuso Valimaki. The Coyotes extended the lead as Guenther scored his eighth of the season on the power play, thanks to Matias Maccelli and Sean Durzi. The Wild tied it on a Kirill Kaprizov goal, his twenty-seventh of the year, fueled by Mason Shaw. San Jose regained the lead in the third period with an Anthony Duclair goal, his fourteenth of the season, going in unassisted. Minnesota tied it again with a Kaprizov goal, his second of the game and twenty-eighth of the year, helped along by Matt Boldy. The Wild pulled ahead with a Kaprizov goal, completing his hat trick on his twenty-ninth of the campaign, via Joel Eriksson Ek and Boldy. Finally, the Edmonton Oilers bring in the Pittsburgh Penguins. Alex Nedeljkovic and Calvin Pickard are set to start in goal. Edmonton kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Zach Hyman goal, his forty-first of the season, assisted by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The Oilers added on in the second period with a Corey Perry goal, his eighth of the year, via Ryan McLeod and Warren Foegele. Winnipeg got on the board in the third period with a Kyle Connor goal, his twenty-fifth of the year, assisted by Nikolaj Ehlers and Josh Morrissey. The Jets got closer with a Nino Niederreiter goal, his fifteenth of the season, passed from Nate Schmidt and Adam Lowry. East to Buffalo, where the Sabres bring in the Vegas Golden Knights. Logan Thompson and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen are set to start in goal. Buffalo led off in the first period with a Jeff Skinner goal, his twentieth of the season, going in unassisted. The Sabres added on with a Dylan Cozens unassisted shorthanded goal, his thirteenth of the year. Vegas got on the board with a Brendan Brisson power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Nicolas Roy and Paul Cotter. The Golden Knights tied it on a William Karlsson goal, his twenty-first of the year, via Jonathan Marchessault and Cotter. Buffalo retook the lead with a Zemgus Girgensons goal, his seventh of the season, passed from Eric Robinson. The Sabres extended the lead in the third period as Kyle Okposo scored his twelfth of the year, thanks to Skinner and Casey Mittelstadt. Buffalo padded the lead on an Owen Power goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Jacob Bryson and Robinson. Toronto tied it in the second period with a Mitchell Marner goal, his twenty-fourth of the year, fueled by Auston Matthews. The Rangers retook the lead with a Vincent Trocheck goal, his twenty-first of the season, assisted by Lafreniere and Artemi Panarin. The Maple Leafs retied it on a William Nylander goal, his thirty-third of the year, passed from Max Domi and Jake McCabe. Toronto took the lead with a John Tavares goal, his eighteenth of the season, made possible by Calle Jarnkrok and Morgan Rielly. New York retied it on another Trocheck goal, his second of the game and twenty-second of the year, guided in by Lafreniere. Columbus replied with a Mathieu Olivier goal, his second of the year, courtesy of Werenski. The Blue Jackets extended the lead as Cole Sillinger scored his eleventh of the season, thanks to Alex Nylander and Adam Boqvist. The Blackhawks got one back in the third period with a Donato goal, his seventh of the year, with helpers from Kurashev and Alex Vlasic. Calgary tied it on a Blake Coleman goal, his twenty-fifth of the season, passed from Andrew Mangiapane and Mikael Backlund. There's three games on this Friday. First up...

The Ottawa Senators host the Arizona Coyotes. Karel Vejmelka and Anton Forsberg are in the blue paint. Arizona led off in the first period with an unassisted Michael Carcone goal, his sixteenth of the season. The Coyotes added on with a J.J. Moser goal, his fourth of the year, guided in by Dylan Guenther and Carcone. Arizona extended the lead on a Nick Schmaltz power play goal, his seventeenth of the season, powered by Matias Maccelli and Sean Durzi. Vegas got on the board with Paul Cotter goal, his seventh of the year, made possible by Nicolas Roy and Shea Theodore. The Golden Knights got on the board with an Alex Pietrangelo goal, his fourth of the season, courtesy of Jonathan Marchessault and Brendan Brisson. The Bruins countered with Geekie completing his hat trick on his thirteenth of the year, with helpers from Pastrnak and Matt Grzelcyk. NHL 2023-24 - Day 133

There's two games on this Wednesday. First up...

The New York Rangers welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets. Elvis Merzlikins and Igor Shesterkin are the masked men. New York got going in the second period with an Artemi Panarin goal, his thirty-fourth of the season, via Vincent Trocheck. The Rangers added on with an Adam Fox power play goal, his tenth of the year, powered by Chris Kreider. Columbus got on the board in the third period with a Cole Sillinger goal, his ninth of the season, coming off of Damon Severson. New York replied with a Kreider empty net goal, his thirtieth of the year, set up by Panarin and Jimmy Vesey. The Rangers iced it at 4-1 with a Panarin empty net goal, his second of the game and thirty-fifth of the campaign, made possible by Jacob Trouba and K'Andre Miller. The three stars were Shesterkin (30 for 31 in saves), Panarin, and Kreider.

Out west, the Edmonton Oilers bring in the St. Louis Blues. Jordan Binnington and Stuart Skinner protect the nets. St. Louis struck first in the first period with a Robert Thomas power play goal, his twentieth of the season, powered by Torey Krug and Jordan Kyrou. The Blues added on with a Pavel Buchnevich goal, his twenty-fourth of the year, assisted by Kyrou and Thomas. Edmonton got on the board with a Zach Hyman power play goal, his thirty-ninth of the season, with assists provided by Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The Oilers tied it in the second period with a Hyman goal, his second of the game and fortieth of the year, guided in by McDavid and Evan Bouchard. Edmonton won 3-2 in overtime with a McDavid goal, his twenty-second of the campaign, made possible by Mattias Ekholm. The three stars went to McDavid, Hyman, and Thomas, while Kyrou gets an honorable mention.
