NHL 2022-23 - Day 128

There's three games on today, beginning with...

The New York Islanders hosting the Winnipeg Jets. Connor Hellebuyck and Ilya Sorokin tend the twines. New York opened in the first period with a Sebastian Aho goal, his fifth of the season, coming off of Brock Nelson. Winnipeg tied it on a Nikolaj Ehlers power play goal, his fifth of the year, powered by Josh Morrissey and Kyle Connor. The Islanders took the lead with a Simon Holmstrom goal in the third period, his fourth of the season, courtesy of Bo Horvat and Matt Martin. The final held at 2-1, with the three stars being Sorokin (25 for 26 in saves), Holmstrom, and Aho.

Down in Dallas, the Stars welcome the Chicago Blackhawks. Jaxson Stauber and Dan Vladar are set to start in goal. Dallas struck first in the first period with a Tyler Seguin goal, his fifteenth of the season, going in unassisted. The Stars added on with a Jamie Benn goal, his twenty-third of the year, guided in by Denis Gurianov. Dallas extended the lead in the second period with a Jason Robertson power play goal, his thirty-fifth of the season, powered by Miro Heiskanen and Benn. Chicago got on the board with a Max Domi power play goal, his sixteenth of the year, with assists provided by Patrick Kane and Seth Jones. The Blackhawks got closer with a Kane goal, his fifteenth of the season, made possible by Domi. Chicago tied it on a Kane goal, his second of the game and sixteenth of the year, fueled by Philipp Kurashev and Jones. The Blackhawks took the lead in the third period with a Domi goal, his second of the game and seventeenth of the season, going in unassisted. The final held at 4-3, with the three stars awarded to Domi, Kane, and Jones, while Benn gets an honorable mention.

Finally, the Arizona Coyotes bring in the Calgary Flames. Dan Vladar and Karel Vejmelka man the nets. Calgary started in the first period with a Milan Lucic goal, his fifth of the season, made possible by Walker Duehr and Trevor Lewis. Arizona tied it on a Nick Schmaltz power play goal in the second period, his sixteenth of the year, powered by Clayton Keller and Juuso Valimaki. The Coyotes took the lead with a Keller goal, his twenty-fourth of the season, going in unassisted. Arizona added on with a Matias Maccelli goal, his fourth of the year, an unassisted goal. The Flames got one back with an Elias Lindholm power play goal, his seventeenth of the season, with assists provided by Nazem Kadri and Tyler Toffoli. Calgary tied it on a Toffoli goal, his twenty-fourth of the year, guided in by Dillon Dube and Lindholm. The Flames gained the lead with a Jakob Pelletier power play goal, his second of the season, assisted by Noah Hanifin and Dube. Calgary extended the lead as Duehr scored his third of the year, thanks to Chris Tanev and MacKenzie Weegar. The Flames padded the lead on a Mikael Backlund power play goal, his thirteenth of the season, with helpers from Pelletier and Andrew Mangiapane. The final held at 6-3, with the three stars given to Lindholm, Toffoli, and Pelletier, while Duehr, Dube, and Keller get the honorable mentions.
