NHL 2023-24 - Day 90

There's just two games this Friday. First up...

The Dallas Stars host the Nashville Predators. Kevin Lankinen and Jake Oettinger are the goalies. Nashville got going in the second period with an unassisted Jeremy Lauzon goal, his fourth of the season. The Predators added on with a Tommy Novak goal, his seventh of the year, courtesy of Denis Gurianov and Roman Josi. Dallas got on the board in the third period with a Jani Hakanpaa goal, his second of the season, fueled by Matt Duchene and Tyler Seguin. Nashville replied with a Ryan O'Reilly goal, his sixteenth of the year, guided in by Filip Forsberg. The Stars answered with a Wyatt Johnston goal, his eleventh of the season, passed from Nils Lundkvist and Thomas Harley. The Predators fired back with a power play goal by Forsberg, his twenty-second of the year, powered by Josi and O'Reilly. Dallas countered on a Duchene power play goal, his thirteenth of the season, with assists provided by Jason Robertson and Joe Pavelski. Nashville responded with an empty net goal by Gustav Nyquist, his eleventh of the year, set up by Josi and O'Reilly. The Wild took the lead back in the third period with a Ryan Hartman goal, his thirteenth of the season, passed from Alex Goligoski and Zach Bogosian. Minnesota added on with a Matt Boldy goal, his fifteenth of the year, assisted by Jake Middleton and Hartman. The Flyers got one back with a Tyson Foerster goal, his sixth of the season, helped along by Scott Laughton and Sean Walker. Philadelphia tied it on an Owen Tippett goal, his fifteenth of the year, guided in by Konecny and Jamie Drysdale. The Flyers won 4-3 in overtime with a Farabee power play goal, his second of the game and fourteenth of the campaign, powered by Egor Zamula and Tippett. The three stars were Farabee, Tippett, and Konecny, while Hartman gets an honorable mention.

The Buffalo Sabres hosting the Ottawa Senators. Anton Forsberg and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen man the nets. Buffalo struck first in the first period with a JJ Peterka goal, his thirteenth of the season, via Dylan Cozens and Owen Power. Ottawa tied it on a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, his ninth of the year, going in unassisted. Joonas Korpisalo replaced an injured Forsberg in goal. The Sharks added on with a Fabian Zetterlund goal, his twelfth of the year, via Tomas Hertl and Filip Zadina. Montreal got on the board with a Brendan Gallagher goal, his seventh of the season, passed from Michael Matheson and David Savard. San Jose replied in the second period with a Nikita Okhotiuk goal, coming off of Mikael Granlund and William Eklund. Toronto tied it on a Bobby McMann goal, his second of the year, guided in by Noah Gregor and T.J. Brodie. The Maple Leafs took the lead in the second period with an Auston Matthews goal, his thirty-second of the season, via Mitchell Marner and Morgan Rielly. Toronto added on with another Matthews goal, his second of the game and thirty-third of the year, passed from Pontus Holmberg. The Islanders got one back with an Alexander Romanov goal, his fourth of the season, courtesy of Barzal and Dobson. New York tied it on a Bo Horvat power play goal, his seventeenth of the year, with assists provided by Dobson and Barzal. New Jersey kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Dawson Mercer goal, his thirteenth of the season, coming off of Erik Haula and Colin Miller. Tampa Bay tied it on a Luke Glendening goal, his sixth of the year, courtesy of Nick Perbix and Austin Watson. The Lightning took the lead with a Glendening shorthanded goal, his second of the game and seventh of the season, going in unassisted. Tampa Bay added on in the second period with a Brayden Point goal, his twentieth of the year, via Nikita Kucherov and Perbix. Backtracking to DC, as the Washington Capitals bring in the Seattle Kraken. Joey Daccord and Darcy Kuemper guard the cages. The Kraken added on with an Alexander Wennberg goal, his seventh of the year, coming off of Brandon Tanev. Washington got on the board with a Max Pacioretty goal in the second period, assisted by Alex Ovechkin and Trevor van Riemsdyk. Seattle shot back with a Justin Schultz goal, his fourth of the season, passed from Eeli Tolvanen and Oliver Bjorkstrand. Seattle extended the lead in the third period as Larsson scored his third of the year, thanks to Tanev and Jaden Schwartz. This stood for a 4-1 win, with the three stars being Larsson, Daccord (25 for 26 in saves), and Tanev.

Out west, the St. Louis Blues host the New York Rangers. Igor Shesterkin and Jordan Binnington tend the twines. The Philadelphia Flyers hosting the Montreal Canadiens. Cayden Primeau and Samuel Ersson man the nets. Montreal opened in the first period with a Sean Monahan goal, his eleventh of the season, assisted by Justin Barron and Kaiden Guhle. The Canadiens added on with a David Savard goal, his fourth of the year, passed from Michael Pezzetta and Juraj Slafkovsky. Philadelphia got on the board with an Owen Tippett goal, his fourteenth of the season, via Travis Konecny and Sean Couturier. The Flyers tied it in the second period with a Morgan Frost power play goal, his seventh of the year, powered by Jamie Drysdale and Tyson Foerster. The tie went to a shootout, where Couturier's lone tally lifted the Flyers to a 3-2 win. The three stars were Couturier, Forst, and Tippett.

Down in Dallas, the Stars welcome the Minnesota Wild. Jesper Wallstedt and Scott Wedgewood make the starts in goal. Arizona tied it on a Clayton Keller power play goal, his fourteenth of the year, with an assist from Guenther. The Bruins retook the lead on a Jesper Boqvist goal, an unassisted goal. The Coyotes it with a Dylan Guenther goal, his second of the season, made possible by Logan Cooley and Nick Bjugstad. Arizona gained the lead in the third period with a Matias Maccelli goal, his seventh of the year, passed from Lawson Crouse. The New York Rangers hosting the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Igor Shesterkin tend the twines. New York led off in the first period with a Vincent Trocheck power play goal, his eleventh of the season, powered by Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin. Vancouver tied it on a J.T. Miller goal, his nineteenth of the year, via Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser. The Canucks took the lead with a Nilas Hoglander goal, his eleventh of the season, passed from Nils Aman and Sam Lafferty. Vancouver added on with a Boeser goal, his twenty-fifth of the year, guided in by Pettersson and Quinn Hughes. The Rangers got one back in the second period with a Panarin goal, his twenty-sixth of the season, assisted by Alexis Lafreniere. The Canucks shot back on a Pettersson goal, his eighteenth of the year, fueled by Teddy Blueger and Filip Hronek. Vancouver extended the lead as Hoglander scored his second of the game and twelfth of the season, thanks to Pius Suter and Hronek. New York pulled one back with a Trocheck goal, his second of the game and twelfth of the year, with a lone helper from Lafreniere in the third period. Finally, the Colorado Avalanche host the Boston Bruins. Jeremy Swayman and Alexandar Georgiev guard the cages. The Blackhawks retied it on a Philipp Kurashev goal, his eighth of the year, assisted by Jason Dickinson and Alex Vlasic.
