KHL 2016/17 - Day 44

Four games on for today's schedule, beginning with...

Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg hosting Lada Togliatti. Ilya Ezhov and Igor Ustinsky are in goal. Togliatti opened in the first period with an Andrei Ivanov goal, passed from Nikita Filatov and Alexander Bumagin. Yekaterinburg tied it on a Pavel Turbin goal, assisted by Jan Buchtele. Avtomobilist took the lead with an Anatoly Golyshev goal, going in unassisted in the second period. Yekaterinburg added on with a Nikolai Timashov power play goal, powered by Golyshev and Turbin. Lada pulled back with a Filatov goal, with a lone assist from Gleb Koryagin. Togliatti tied it as Filatov scored his second of the game, fueled by Ivanov and the goalie Ezhov. Lada won it 4-3 with Ivanov's second of the night, helped along by Taylor Aronson and Anton Shenfeld. The three stars were Ivanov, Filatov, and Golyshev, while Turbin gets an honorable mention.

Into Kazakhstan, where Barys Astana welcomes Ak Bars Kazan. Emil Garipov and Henrik Karlsson protect the nets. Kazan led off in the first period with a Vasily Tokranov goal, made possible by Alexander Svitov and Jiri Sekac. Ak Bars added on in the second period with a Damir Musin goal, coming off of Fyodor Malykhin and Anton Glinkin. Kazan extended the lead in the third period as Glinkin scored, with the help of Mikhail Zhukov. Ak Bars padded the lead with another Glinkin goal, assisted by Andrei Popov. The game ended at 4-0, with the three stars awarded to Glinkin, Garipov (25 save shutout), and Tokranov.

Back in Russia, Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk brings in Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. Ville Kolppanen and Alexander Sharychenkov are in the blue paint. Nizhnekamsk started in the first period with an Andrei Stas goal, guided in by Bogdan Yakimov and Geoffrey Kinrade. Neftekhimik added on with a Kinrade power play goal in the second period, powered by Dan Sexton. This stood for a 2-0 win, with the three stars being Kolppanen (31 save shutout), Kinrade, and Stas.

Finally, Jokerit Helsinki hosts Dynamo Moscow. Alexander Yeryomenko and Ryan Zapolski man the nets. Moscow got going in the second period with a Martins Karsums goal, passed from Alexei Tsvetkov and Andrei Mironov on the power play. Dynamo added on with an unassisted goal by Artyom Fyodorov. Helsinki got on the board with a Marko Anttila goal, courtesy of Joey Hishon and Topi Jaakola in the third period. They couldn't equalize, falling 2-1, with the three stars handed to Yeryomenko (19 for 20 in saves), Fyodorov, and Karsums.
