NHL 2021-22 - Day 144

There's four games on tonight, beginning with...

The Minnesota Wild hosting the Boston Bruins. Jeremy Swayman and Cam Talbot are the masked men. Minnesota opened in the first period with a Kirill Kaprizov power play goal, his thirty-first of the season, coming off of Alex Goligoski and Ryan Hartman. The Wild added on with another Kaprizov goal, his second of the game and thirty-second of the year, assisted by Mats Zuccarello and Jared Spurgeon. Boston got on the board with a Craig Smith goal, his fourteenth of the season, courtesy of Trent Frederic and Brandon Carlo. The Bruins tied it in the second period with a Brad Marchand power play goal, his twenty-fourth of the year, powered by Charlie Coyle and Charlie McAvoy. Minnesota took the lead in the third period with a Jordan Greenway goal, his sixth of the season, via Joel Eriksson Ek and Jared Spurgeon. The Wild iced it at 4-2 with a Hartman empty net goal, his twenty-fourth of the year, going in unassisted. The three stars were Kaprizov, Hartman, and Spurgeon.

Over in Ottawa, the Senators welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets. Elvis Merzlikins and Anton Forsberg patrol the creases. Ottawa started in the first period with a Tyler Ennis goal, his seventh of the season, courtesy of Thomas Chabot and Chris Tierney. Columbus tied it on a Jack Roslovic goal, his eleventh of the year, via Zach Werenski and Patrik Laine. The Blue Jackets took the lead in the second period with an Eric Robinson goal, his eighth of the season, coming off of Werenski and the goalie Merzlikins. Columbus added on with another Roslovic goal, his second of the game and twelfth of the year, passed from Laine and Gabriel Carlsson. The Blue Jackets iced it at 4-1 in the third period with a Sean Kuraly empty net goal, his tenth of the campaign, going in unassisted. The three stars were Roslovic, Laine, and Werenski.

Westward to Calgary, as the Flames bring in the New Jersey Devils. Nico Daws and Jacob Markstrom protect the nets. Calgary led off in the first period with a Brett Ritchie goal, via Dillon Dube and Oliver Kylington. New Jersey tied it on a Dawson Mercer goal, his fifteenth of the season, assisted by Tomas Tatar and Nico Hischier. The Flames took the lead back with an Andrew Mangiapane goal, his thirtieth of the year, fueled by Christopher Tanev and Tyler Toffoli. The Devils tied it in the second period on a P.K. Subban goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Hischier. Calgary reclaimed the lead with a Dube goal, his seventh of the year, guided in by Matthew Tkachuk and Noah Hanifin. The Flames added on with a Tkachuk goal, his twenty-eighth of the season, passed from Erik Gudbranson. Calgary extended the lead as Milan Lucic scored his tenth of the year, helped along by Rasmus Andersson. New Jersey got one back with a Yegor Sharangovich goal in the third period, his fifteenth of the season, with helpers from Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes. The Flames iced it at 6-3 with a Johnny Gaudreau empty net goal, his twenty-seventh of the year, set up by Tkachuk and Elias Lindholm. The three stars were Tkachuk, Dube, and Hischier.

Finally, the Seattle Kraken host the Tampa Bay Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy and Philipp Grubauer are between the pipes. Seattle began in the first period with a Yanni Gourde power play goal, his fourteenth of the season, powered by Jordan Eberle and Vince Dunn. Tampa Bay tied it on a Nikita Kucherov goal, his eleventh of the year, guided in by Steven Stamkos. The Lightning took the lead with a Victor Hedman power play goal in the second period, his sixteenth of the season, with assists provided by Stamkos and Kucherov. Tampa Bay took the lead with an Anthony Cirelli goal in the third period, his fourteenth of the year, coming off of Ondrej Palat and Brayden Point. The Lightning extended the lead as Hedman scored his second of the game and seventeenth of the season on the power play, thanks to Stamkos and Point. The final was 4-1, and the three stars belonged to Hedman, Stamkos, and Kucherov, while Point gets an honorable mention.
