Washington added on in the second period with an Ovechkin goal, his thirty-ninth of the year, passed from Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson. The Capitals extended the lead as Oshie scored his second of the game and eighteenth of the season, with the help of Vrana and Backstrom. Washington iced it at 5-1 with an unassisted Wilson empty net goal in the third period, his fifteenth of the year. The three stars belonged to Oshie, Ovechkin, and Vrana, while Backstrom, Wilson, and Holtby (25 for 26 in saves) get the honorable mentions.
