The Sharks pulled one back with a Burns goal, his third of the playoffs, guided in by Erik Karlsson and Marcus Sorensen. The Avalanche replied with a MacKinnon empty net goal, his fourth of the postseason, set up by Calvert and the goalie Grubauer. San Jose chipped back on a Burns power play goal, his second of the game and fourth of the playoffs, powered by Hertl and Kane. This only made it 4-3, the final, with the three stars awarded to Barrie, Burns, and Landeskog, while MacKinnon, Calvert, Kane, and Hertl get the honorable mentions. The series heads east tied at 1.

Northeast to Boston, as the Bruins bring in the Columbus Blue Jackets. Sergei Bobrovsky and Tuukka Rask are the goalies. Boston began in the first period with a Matt Grzelcyk power play goal, powered by Charlie McAvoy and David Krejci. Columbus tied it on an Artemi Panarin power play goal, his third of the postseason, with assists provided by Seth Jones and Cam Atkinson in the second period. The Bruins took the lead back with a David Pastrnak goal, his third of the playoffs, via Charlie Coyle and Marcus Johansson. The Blue Jackets retied it on a Panarin goal, his second of the game and fourth of the postseason, with a lone helper by Jones. Columbus won 3-2 in double overtime with a Matt Duchene power play goal, his fourth of the playoffs, with helpers from Panarin and Cam Atkinson. The three stars were Panarin, Jones, and Duchene. Columbus tied the series before heading home.

2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs - Round 2 Day 2
The other two series of the second round begin today, starting with...
The New York Islanders hosting the Carolina Hurricanes. Petr Mrazek and Robin Lehner are in goal. Carolina won 1-0 in overtime on a Jordan Staal goal, his fourth of the postseason, via Nino Niederreiter and Brett Pesce. The three stars were Mrazek (31 save shutout), Staal, and Lehner (31 for 32 in saves).
Out west, the San Jose Sharks host the Colorado Avalanche. Philipp Grubauer and Martin Jones are set to start in the creases. Colorado kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Gabriel Bourque goal, via Cale Makar and Tyson Jost. San Jose tied it with a Gustav Nyquist goal, courtesy of Brent Burns and Logan Couture. The Avalanche retook the lead in the second period with a Colin Wilson power play goal, his third of the postseason, powered by Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon. The Sharks tied it again with a Joe Thornton goal, his second of the playoffs, with a lone helper by Marcus Sorensen. San Jose gained the lead with a Kevin Labanc goal, his third of the postseason, coming off of Burns. The Sharks added on with a Burns goal, his second of the playoffs, helped along by Sorensen and Thornton. San Jose iced it at 5-2 with an empty net goal in the third period by Timo Meier, his second of the postseason, set up by Burns. The three stars were Burns, Thornton, and Sorensen.

2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs - Round 2 Day 1
We're onto the second round, with two games on for today. First up...
The Boston Bruins welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets. Sergei Bobrovsky and Tuukka Rask are the goalies. Boston led off in the first period with a Noel Acciari shorthanded goal, set up by Charlie McAvoy. Columbus tied it in the third period with a Brandon Dubinsky goal, assisted by Riley Nash and Seth Jones. The Blue Jackets took the lead with a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal, his second of the postseason, made possible by Artemi Panarin and Jones. The Bruins tied it again with a Charlie Coyle goal, his fourth of the playoffs, fueled by Marcus Johansson and Torey Krug. Boston won 3-2 in overtime with a Coyle goal, his second of the game and fifth of the postseason, guided in by Marcus Johansson and Danton Heinen. The three stars were Coyle, Johansson, and Jones. The Bruins begin the series with a 1-0 lead.

2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs - Round 1 Day 15
The last game of the first round sees the Washington Capitals hosting the Carolina Hurricanes. Petr Mrazek and Braden Holtby man the nets. Washington began in the first period with an Andre Burakovsky goal, going in unassisted. The Capitals added on with a Tom Wilson goal, his third of the postseason, coming off of Alex Ovechkin and Dmitry Orlov. Carolina got on the board in the second period with a Sebastian Aho shorthanded goal, his second of the playoffs, set up by Brett Pesce and Jaccob Slavin. Washington replied with an Evgeny Kuznetsov goal, via Carl Hagelin. The Hurricanes got one back with a Teuvo Teravainen goal, his third of the postseason, made possible by Pesce and Brock McGinn. Carolina tied it on a Jordan Staal goal in the third period, his third of the playoffs, fueled by Slavin. The Hurricanes won 4-3 in double overtime with a McGinn goal, his second of the postseason, with helpers from Justin Williams and Slavin, the latter earning a sock trick. The three stars were Slavin, McGinn, and Pesce. The Hurricanes won the series 4-3 and will face the New York Islanders in the second round.
