We're onto the second round, with two games on for today. First up...
The Boston Bruins welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets. Sergei Bobrovsky and Tuukka Rask are the goalies. Boston led off in the first period with a Noel Acciari shorthanded goal, set up by Charlie McAvoy. Columbus tied it in the third period with a Brandon Dubinsky goal, assisted by Riley Nash and Seth Jones. The Blue Jackets took the lead with a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal, his second of the postseason, made possible by Artemi Panarin and Jones. The Bruins tied it again with a Charlie Coyle goal, his fourth of the playoffs, fueled by Marcus Johansson and Torey Krug. Boston won 3-2 in overtime with a Coyle goal, his second of the game and fifth of the postseason, guided in by Marcus Johansson and Danton Heinen. The three stars were Coyle, Johansson, and Jones. The Bruins begin the series with a 1-0 lead.
Over in St. Louis, the Blues bring in the Dallas Stars. Ben Bishop and Jordan Binnington are between the pipes. St. Louis began in the first period on a Robby Fabbri goal, via Ivan Barbashev and Colton Parayko. Dallas tied it in the second period on a Jason Spezza goal, assisted by John Klingberg and Mats Zuccarello. The Blues retook the lead with a Vladimir Tarasenko power play goal, his third of the postseason, powered by Brayden Schenn and Alex Pietrangelo. St. Louis added on in the third period with a Tarasenko goal, his second of the game and fourth of the playoffs, going in unassisted. The Stars got one back with a Jamie Benn power play goal, his second of the postseason, with helpers from Roope Hintz and Tyler Seguin. This only made it 3-2, the final, with the three stars going to Tarasenko, Fabbri, and Binnington (27 for 29 in saves). The Blues lead the series 1-0.
