Just a pair of games today, beginning with...
The Vegas Golden Knights hosting the Calgary Flames. Cam Talbot and Marc-Andre Fleury are the goalies. Vegas opened in the first period with a William Karlsson goal, his seventh of the season, assisted by Reilly Smith and Nate Schmidt. The Golden Knights added on with a Paul Stastny goal, his sixth of the year, via Schmidt and Shea Theodore in the second period. Vegas extended the lead in the third period as Max Pacioretty scored his eighth of the season, thanks to Karlsson and Schmidt. The Golden Knights padded the lead with a Cody Eakin goal, guided in by Jonathan Marchessault. Vegas kept going with a Mark Stone power play goal, his ninth of the year, powered by Pacioretty. The Golden Knights capped it at 6-0 with a Karlsson goal, his second of the game and eighth of the campaign, fueled by Brayden McNabb and Schmidt. The three stars were Fleury (34 save shutout), Karlsson, and Schmidt, while Pacioretty gets an honorable mention.
The other game sees the Chicago Blackhawks host the Buffalo Sabres. Carter Hutton and Corey Crawford are in the blue paint. Chicago started in the first period with a Kirby Dach goal, his fourth of the season, passed from Dominik Kubalik and Andrew Shaw. The Blackhawks added on with another Dach goal in the second period, his second of the game and fifth of the year, helped along by Zack Smith and Olli Maatta. Chicago extended the lead on an unassisted Patrick Kane power play goal, his eleventh of the season. The Blackhawks padded the lead on a Jonathan Toews goal, his fourth of the year, coming off of Brandon Saad and Brent Seabrook. Buffalo got on the board with a Jack Eichel goal, his thirteenth of the campaign, going in unassisted. This only made it 4-1, the final, with the three stars given to Dach, Crawford (33 for 34 in saves), and Kane.
