Three games on for a Friday night. First up...
The Minnesota Wild host the Chicago Blackhawks. Petr Mrazek and Marc-Andre Fleury are the veteran goalies. Minnesota led off in the first period with a Mats Zuccarello goal, his eleventh of the season, assisted by Kirill Kaprizov and Sam Steel. The Wild added on with a Kaprizov goal, his eighteenth of the year, via Zuccarello and Steel in the second period. Minnesota extended the lead as Zuccarello scored his second of the game and twelfth of the season on the power play, powered by Matt Boldy and Joel Eriksson Ek. Chicago got on the board in the third period with a Jonathan Toews power play goal, his tenth of the year, with assists provided by Patrick Kane and Seth Jones. The Wild iced it at 4-1 with a Zuccarello empty net goal to complete his hat trick on his thirteenth of the campaign, set up by Kaprizov and Jared Spurgeon. The three stars were Zuccarello, Kaprizov, and Steel.
Out west, the Calgary Flames welcome the St. Louis Blues. Thomas Greiss and Jacob Markstrom start in goal. St. Louis began in the first period with an Ivan Barbashev goal, his fifth of the season, coming off of Robert Thomas. Calgary tied it on a Connor Mackey goal, passed from Dillon Dube and Elias Lindholm. The Blues retook the lead with a Jordan Kyrou power play goal, his twelfth of the year, powered by Brayden Schenn and Pavel Buchnevich in the second period. St. Louis added on in the third period with a Buchnevich goal, his tenth of the season, made possible by Schenn and Torey Krug. The Flames got one back with a Mackey goal, his second of the game, helped along by Dube and Lindholm. The Blues shot back with an unassisted Brandon Saad goal, his seventh of the year. St. Louis extended the lead as Kyrou scored his second of the game and thirteenth of the campaign, assisted by Thomas and Barbashev. The final stood at 5-2, with the three stars given to Kyrou, Buchnevich, and Barbashev, while Mackey, Schenn, Thomas, Dube, and Lindholm get the honorable mentions.
Finally, the Arizona Coyotes bring in the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Karel Vejmelka protect the nets. New York kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Sebastian Aho goal, his third of the season, courtesy of Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey. The Islanders added on with a Mathew Barzal goal, his fourth of the year, guided in by Robin Salo and Oliver Wahlstrom. Arizona got on the board with a Shayne Gostisbehere goal, his seventh of the season, going in unassisted. The Coyotes tied it in the second period with a Clayton Keller goal, his eleventh of the year, fueled by Nick Schmaltz and Barrett Hayton. Arizona pulled ahead with a Nick Bjugstad goal, his seventh of the season, coming off of Josh Brown and Matias Maccelli. New York retied it on a Noah Dobson unassisted goal, his tenth of the year. The Coyotes retook the lead in the third period with a Travis Boyd goal, his third of the season, passed from Jakob Chychrun and Schmaltz. Arizona extended the leas as Keller scored his second of the game and twelfth of the year, thanks to Schmaltz and Chychrun. The Islanders got one back with an Anthony Beauvillier goal, his sixth of the season, assisted by Wahlstrom and Barzal. The final held at 5-4, with the three stars awarded to Keller, Schmaltz, and Barzal, while Chychrun and Wahlstrom get the honorable mentions.
