Down in Nashville, the Predators bring in the Edmonton Oilers. Jack Campbell and Juuse Saros guard the cages. Nashville struck first in the first period with a Mattias Ekholm goal, his second of the season, via Thomas Novak. Edmonton tied it with a Jesse Puljujarvi goal, his second of the year, passed from Darnell Nurse and the goalie Campbell. The Predators retook the lead with a Jordan Gross goal, his third of the season, assisted by Yakov Trenin and Ryan Johansen in the second period. The Oilers tied it on a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins power play goal, his sixteenth of the year, powered by Connor McDavid and Tyson Barrie. To Arizona, as the Coyotes welcome the Montreal Canadiens. Sam Montembeault and Karel Vejmelka are in the blue paint. Montreal dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Cole Caufield goal, his nineteenth of the season, coming off of Josh Anderson and Kaiden Guhle. Arizona tied it with a Nick Schmaltz goal, his fifth of the year, via Clayton Keller. The Canadiens retook the lead with a Christian Dvorak goal, his seventh of the season, assisted by Arber Xhekaj and Evgenii Dadonov. The Coyotes tied it again on a Matias Maccelli goal, his third of the year, passed from Lawson Crouse and Jakob Chychrun. Montreal won 3-2 in overtime with a Mike Hoffman goal, his seventh of the campaign, courtesy of Kirby Dach. The three stars were Hoffman, Dvorak, and Caufield.

Up in Vegas, the Golden Knights host the Buffalo Sabres. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Adin Hill are the goalies. Buffalo cracked the scoresheet in the second period with a Jeff Skinner goal, his sixteenth of the season, passed from Alex Tuch and Lawrence Pilut. The Sabres added on with a Tage Thompson goal, his twenty-sixth of the year, courtesy of Casey Fitzgerald. Buffalo extended the lead as Pilut scored, thanks to Kyle Okposo and Peyton Krebs. Vegas got on the board in the third period with a Chandler Stephenson goal, his eighth of the season, coming off of Michael Amadio and Alec Martinez. The Golden Knights got closer with a Reilly Smith goal, his seventeenth of the year, guided in by Alex Pietrangelo and William Karlsson. The final stayed at 3-2 with the three stars given to Pilut, Thompson, and Luukkonen (41 for 43 in saves).

Finally, the Vancouver Canucks bring in the St. Louis Blues. Jordan Binnington and Spencer Martin man the nets. St. Louis drew first blood in the second period with a Jordan Kyrou goal, his fourteenth of the season, helped along by Nick Leddy and Vladimir Tarasenko. Vancouver tied it with an Ilya Mikheyev goal, his tenth of the year, courtesy of Quinn Hughes. The Blues retook the lead on a Nathan Walker goal, via Leddy and Colton Parayko. St. Louis added on with a Robert Thomas power play goal, his eighth of the season, powered by Ivan Barbashev and Kyrou. The Blues extended the lead in the third period as Kyrou scored his second of the game and fifteenth of the year on the power play, thanks to Tarasenko and Torey Krug. St. Louis padded the lead when Kyrou completed his hat trick on his sixteenth of the season, with the help of Thomas and Tarasenko. The final remained at 5-1, with the three stars handed to Kyrou, Tarasenko, and Thomas, while Leddy gets an honorable mention.

The Minnesota Wild hosting the Ottawa Senators. Anton Forsberg and Filip Gustavsson are the goalies. Minnesota began in the first period with a Kirill Kaprizov goal, his nineteenth of the season, coming off of Mats Zuccarello and Sam Steel. The Wild added on in the second period with a Zuccarello goal, his fourteenth of the year, guided in by Steel and Kaprizov. Minnesota extended the lead as Jared Spurgeon scored his third of the season, thanks to Kaprizov and Marcus Foligno. Ottawa got on the board in the third period with a Mark Kastelic goal, his third of the year, made possible by Travis Hamonic and Parker Kelly. The Senators got closer with a Claude Giroux goal, his fourteenth of the season, helped along by Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson. NHL 2022-23 - Day 67

Three games on for a Friday night. First up...

The Minnesota Wild host the Chicago Blackhawks. Petr Mrazek and Marc-Andre Fleury are the veteran goalies. Minnesota led off in the first period with a Mats Zuccarello goal, his eleventh of the season, assisted by Kirill Kaprizov and Sam Steel. The Wild added on with a Kaprizov goal, his eighteenth of the year, via Zuccarello and Steel in the second period. Minnesota extended the lead as Zuccarello scored his second of the game and twelfth of the season on the power play, powered by Matt Boldy and Joel Eriksson Ek. Chicago got on the board in the third period with a Jonathan Toews power play goal, his tenth of the year, with assists provided by Patrick Kane and Seth Jones. The Wild iced it at 4-1 with a Zuccarello empty net goal to complete his hat trick on his thirteenth of the campaign, set up by Kaprizov and Jared Spurgeon. The three stars were Zuccarello, Kaprizov, and Steel. 

Out west, the Calgary Flames welcome the St. Louis Blues. Thomas Greiss and Jacob Markstrom start in goal. Calgary tied it on a Connor Mackey goal, passed from Dillon Dube and Elias Lindholm. St. Louis added on in the third period with a Buchnevich goal, his tenth of the season, made possible by Schenn and Torey Krug. The Flames got one back with a Mackey goal, his second of the game, helped along by Dube and Lindholm. The Blues shot back with an unassisted Brandon Saad goal, his seventh of the year. St. Louis extended the lead as Kyrou scored his second of the game and thirteenth of the campaign, assisted by Thomas and Barbashev. Finally, the Arizona Coyotes bring in the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Karel Vejmelka protect the nets. Arizona pulled ahead with a Nick Bjugstad goal, his seventh of the season, coming off of Josh Brown and Matias Maccelli. New York retied it on a Noah Dobson unassisted goal, his tenth of the year. The Coyotes retook the lead in the third period with a Travis Boyd goal, his third of the season, passed from Jakob Chychrun and Schmaltz. Arizona extended the leas as Keller scored his second of the game and twelfth of the year, thanks to Schmaltz and Chychrun. The Islanders got one back with an Anthony Beauvillier goal, his sixth of the season, assisted by Wahlstrom and Barzal. The Boston Bruins hosting the Los Angeles Kings. Pheonix Copley and Linus Ullmark are the goalies. Boston got going in the second period with a Taylor Hall goal, his twelfth of the season, coming off of Matt Grzelcyk and Charlie Coyle. The Bruins added on with a Brad Marchand power play goal, his ninth of the year, powered by David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy. Los Angeles got on the board in the third period with an Adrian Kempe goal, his eleventh of the season, via Kevin Fiala and Anze Kopitar. The Kings tied it on Kempe's second goal of the game and twelfth of the year, guided in by Fiala and Drew Doughty on the power play. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Kempe, Gabriel Vilardi and Trevor Moore lifted the Kings to a 3-2 win over Coyle, Jake DeBrusk, and the Bruins. The three stars were Kempe, Fiala, and Coyle.

To Montreal, as the Canadiens welcome the Anaheim Ducks. Lukas Dostal and Jake Allen are set to start in goal. The Ducks added on with a John Klingberg goal, his second of the year, guided in by Zegras and Adam Henrique. Over in New York, the Rangers bring in the Toronto Maple Leafs. Matt Murray and Igor Shesterkin guard the cages. Next up, the Washington Capitals host the Dallas Stars. Jake Oettinger and Charlie Lindgren protect the nets. Northwest to Winnipeg, as the Jets bring in the Nashville Predators. Juuse Saros and Connor Hellebuyck tend the twines. Nashville drew first blood in the first period with a Filip Forsberg goal, his ninth of the season, assisted by Mikael Granlund and Matt Duchene. Winnipeg tied it on a Dylan DeMelo goal, courtesy of Kyle Connor and Josh Morrissey. The Jets won 2-1 in overtime with a Connor goal, his twelfth of the year, passed from Adam Lowry. The three stars were Connor, Hellebuyck (25 for 26 in saves), and DeMelo.

Winnipeg was first to score in the first period with a Mark Scheifele goal, his sixteenth of the season, via Josh Morrissey and Blake Wheeler. Vegas tied it on a Daniil Miromanov goal, coming off of Reilly Smith and William Karlsson. The Golden Knights took the lead on a Mark Stone goal, his eleventh of the year, passed from Nicolas Hague and Chandler Stephenson. The Jets tied it on a Morgan Barron goal in the second period, his third of the season, fueled by Dylan Samberg and Jansen Harkins. Vegas took the lead back with a Stone goal, his second of the game and twelfth of the year, guided in by Stephenson. Winnipeg retied it on a Sam Gagner goal, his fourth of the season, helped along by Brenden Dillon and Kevin Stenlund. The Jets pulled ahead in the third period with a Scheifele power play goal, his second of the game and seventeenth of the year, powered by Kyle Connor. The Golden Knights tied it again on a Jonathan Marchessault power play goal, his thirteenth of the season, with assists provided by Miromanov and Stephenson. Vegas took the lead with another Marchessault power play goal, his second of the game and fourteenth of the year, courtesy of Miromanov and Stephenson. The Golden Knights added on with a Karlsson empty net goal, his seventh of the season, set up by Smith and Brayden McNabb. Winnipeg got one back with a Scheifele goal, completing his hat trick on his eighteenth of the year, with helpers from Pierre-Luc Dubois and Dillon. The final was 6-5, and the three stars were Scheifele, Marchessault, and Stone, while Miromanov, Stephenson, Smith, Karlsson, and Dillon get the honorable mentions.

Stateside again, the Chicago Blackhawks host the Washington Capitals. Charlie Lindgren and Petr Mrazek are in the creases. Washington drew first blood in the first period with an Alex Ovechkin goal, his eighteenth of the season, assisted by John Carlson and Conor Sheary. The Capitals added on with another Ovechkin power play goal, his second of the game and nineteenth of the year, powered by Sheary and Sonny Milano. Chicago got on the board with a Tyler Johnson goal, his third of the season, via Jake McCabe and Jujhar Khaira. Washington answered in the second period with a Trevor van Riemsdyk goal, his third of the year, guided in by Ovechkin and Dylan Strome. The Blackhawks got one back with a Jonathan Toews power play goal, his ninth of the season, with an assist provided by Taylor Raddysh. The Capitals fired back with a Nic Dowd goal, his fifth of the year, passed from Garnet Hathaway and Nicolas Aube-Kubel. Washington extended the lead as Ovechkin completed his hat trick on his twentieth of the season, fueled by Anthony Mantha and Evgeny Kuznetsov. The Capitals padded the lead on a Mantha goal, his eighth of the year, coming off of Nick Jensen. Chicago got one back with a Max Domi goal, his tenth of the season, helped along by Ian Mitchell and Patrick Kane. Washington replied with a Dmitry Orlov goal, with helpers from Aube-Kubel and Hathaway. The final was 7-3, and the three stars were Ovechkin, Mantha, and Sheary, while Hathaway and Aube-Kubel get the honorable mentions.

Out west, the Colorado Avalanche welcome the Philadelphia Flyers. Felix Sandstrom and Pavel Francouz are the backups in goal. Philadelphia led off in the first period with a Cam York goal, going in unassisted. Colorado tied it in the second period with a Devon Toews goal, his second of the season, via J.T. Compher and Logan O'Connor. The Avalanche took the lead with an Artturi Lehkonen shorthanded goal, his eighth of the year, set up by Erik Johnson. Colorado added on in the third period with a Compher goal, his fourth of the season, guided in by Lehkonen. The Flyers got one back with a James van Riemsdyk goal, his fourth of the year, passed from Travis Konecny and Kevin Hayes. This only made it 3-2, the final, with the three stars being Compher, Lehkonen, and Toews.

Finally, the San Jose Sharks bring in the Arizona Coyotes. Karel Vejmelka and James Reimer are the masked men. San Jose began in the first period with a Tomas Hertl goal, his tenth of the season, assisted by Radim Simek and Scott Harrington. The Sharks added on with a Nick Bonino goal, his fourth of the year, via Erik Karlsson and Jonah Gadjovich. Arizona got on the board with a power play goal by Lawson Crouse, his thirteenth of the season, powered by Clayton Keller and Shayne Gostisbehere. San Jose shot back with a Nico Sturm goal, his eighth of the year, coming off of Bonino and Harrington. The Coyotes got one back in the third period with a Nick Bjugstad goal, his sixth of the season, helped along by Patrik Nemeth and Matias Maccelli. The three stars belonged to Bonino, Harrington, and Sturm.
